OAEA Art Education Awards

For the first time, OAEA is establishing a set of annual awards for art educators that will be announced at the annual conference, and awarded at the Annual General Meeting each winter. The purpose of these awards is to:

• recognize excellence in visual art and media art education in the province of Ontario
• focus professional attention on quality art education and exemplary art educators
• increase public awareness of the importance of quality art education
• set standards for quality art education and show how they can be achieved
• provide tangible recognition of achievement
• enhance professional opportunities for OAEA members

Awards

OAEA Elementary Art Educator of the Year

• Excellence in art teaching at the K-8 level
• Leadership in and/or contributions to art education in their school, their board or their community
• OAEA Membership
  
  

OAEA Secondary Art Educator of the Year

• Excellence in art teaching at the 9-12 level
• Leadership in and/or contributions to art education in their school, board or community
• OAEA Membership
  
  

OAEA Art Teacher Candidate of the Year

• Enrollment in an Initial Teacher Education Program at an Ontario University with a course specialty in the visual arts at the elementary or secondary level (J/I or I/S panel)
• Excellence in their visual arts course work
• Emerging excellence in art teaching in their practicum settings
• Leadership in and/or contributions to art education in their teacher education program, practicum settings, or their community
• OAEA Membership
  
  

OAEA Post-Secondary Art Educator of the Year

• Excellence in teaching visual arts in a post-secondary setting
• Leadership in and/or contributions to art education in their institution, organization or community
• OAEA Membership
  
  

OAEA Community Art Educator of the Year

• Excellence in teaching visual arts in a museum or community setting
• Leadership in and/or contributions to art education in their institution, organization or community
• OAEA Membership
